IMF Statement on Romania
Bucharest, January 15, 2010
Tonny Lybek, IMF Regional Resident Representative for Romania and Bulgaria, made the following statement today: “During January 20–27, an IMF mission, headed by Jeffrey Franks, will visit Bucharest to discuss the second and third reviews of Romania’s economic program supported by the IMF, European Commission (EC), World Bank, and other international financial institutions. The mission will meet with representatives from the Ministry of Public Finance and the National Bank of Romania, and will work closely with missions from the EC and the World Bank. The IMF mission will disseminate its conclusions at the end of its visit.”
“Subject to the completion of the reviews by the IMF’s Executive Board, both the third disbursement (SDR 1,409 million or about €1.5 billion) and the fourth disbursement (SDR 766 million or about €0.8 billion) of the IMF-supported program would become available.”
